Updates.

Dear life, please stop slacking and/or playing with plastic ninja weapons and start doing some creative stuff and work! The holidays are ending and I've been totally wasting time with that stupid iPhone scrabble app.

Updates.

The end of the year approaches and my work pile builds up as I continue working on freelance gigs with bands the Cheating Sons and Die Vader Die. I'm also trying to find some time to start on Still Warm issue 2, continue working on musical collaborative projects with Pomme De La Pomme, Staring Incident and David Carla as well as composing new tunes for my own personal musical exploration: Eff Loves You (there are new tracks on the myspace page).

On another note, I like this girl and I have a silly new hair cut.

Cheating Sons Photoshoot.

Yesterday was spent spray painting bokchoy, rice and some meat gold with members from Cheating Sons in preparation for their album cover photoshoot. Despite being massively hung over from the night before with some friends and their vocalist Renyi, the shoot went well and I'm excited to get into the project soon. Cheating Sons is possibly one of the best rock and roll bands I've heard from Singapore because of their unique sound.

Still Warm Updates.

Still Warm is currently available at Polyester Books and Sticky Institute (Melbourne), Quimbys (Chicago), Pilot Books and Elliot Bay Book Company (Seattle) and Pens (San Francisco). Also, Still Warm has been reviewed by Syndicate Zine Reviews, read the article here. Or maybe just read all our updates here.

So because we're totally international and junk now, you should order a copy from us before all our zines are consumed! Contact Hannah or myself at thisisstillwarm@gmail.com

Animal Bookscapes website is up.

I've made little pieces of music to accompany each book I've made for the exhibition, like little soundtracks for the mini one page stories.

You can see the other books and hear the soundscapes at www.animalbookscapes.posterous.com

Exhibition Updates 2.

Here's one of six of my finished pieces for the group show Don't Quit Your Day Job. We'll be celebrating the opening night this Friday 1st October from 6-8pm, so come join us!

Exhibition Updates.

With only two more weeks to go, I'm running pretty late with my animal books... three big books need to be glued shut, four little books need to be cut and illustrated, but my plastic animals buddies are having fun playing with each other while they wait for their new homes which makes everybody happy.

Exhibition catalogue is about 80% finished as well, and I think it's looking pretty hot so do pop in for the exhibition and pick up a free copy (then maybe buy a copy of Still Warm!).

Don't Quit Your Day Job.

Don't Quit Your Day Job is an exhibition held by eight lovely ladies and myself at the Hogan Gallery on 310 Smith Street, Collingwood. We decided to team up and combine our superhuman abilities to create strange and wonderful installations, photography and illustrations. I've also been designing promotional flyers and a little catalogue to be handed out on the opening night.

Mad talented artists involved include:
Veronica Fisher
Aviv Gazit
Jane Hamilton
Bobby Harrington
Ned Karam
Hannah Miller
Jessie Ngaio
Lauren Olney
Frankie Pan

Also, Alison Wylie aka Flo One will be spinning some killer tunes for the duration of the opening night and Hannah and I will be launching and selling issue one of Still Warm too. See you there!

Opening night: 6-8pm Friday October 1, 2010.
Exhibition dates: October 1-14, 2010.

Exhibition books.

The office exhibition (currently called "Don't Quit Your Day Job") is just around the corner, so lots of time has been spent cutting up these pretty books I've found and deciding how my imaginary monster friends will be interacting with my zoo of little plastic animals. Here's an early mock up of that idea for the promo postcards with a gorilla and his imaginary friend saying hello.

Exhibition dates should be early October.

Still Warm 01: The Post Incubation Issue.

Still Warm is a project that Hannah Miller and myself have been working on for the past few months. It's our little creative output in the form of an A5 zine and we're very excited to have finally finished the first issue and get it back from the printers last week. We will be distributing our zines in the usual zine stores in Melbourne (Sticky, Polyester, etc) for $4 a copy. There is only a limited number of copies so if you're interested, order one through either one of us!

Eff Loves You revisited.

Eff Loves You is a musical project I've been working on since early 2008, experimenting with Garageband, Ableton Live and vocal distortions. Over the past few months I've been collaborating with talented musicians and have included some of those tracks on the site as well. Most of the tracks were inspired by movies, sea creatures, vegetables and encounters with talking honey ants.
